A securities enforcement defense and internal investigations lawyer, I represent public and private companies and their audit committees, special committees, officers and directors in investigations and proceedings involving the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Department of Justice (DOJ), Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), and other government and non-government agencies. As a fluent Spanish speaker, my enforcement experience includes representing clients in connection with government and internal investigations throughout Latin America including matters involving alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). In addition to representing individual and corporate clients before government regulators, I also conduct internal investigations and represent clients in a variety of complex litigation matters, including False Claims Act litigation, securities class actions, and shareholder derivative actions. I also regularly advise companies and their committees and directors on a wide range of corporate governance issues and assist clients in building and enhancing their corporate compliance programs. In addition to my legal practice, I am also an experienced public company board director. From 20••••25 I served on the Board of Directors of HCI Group, Inc, a Florida-based publicly traded company that, through its subsidiaries, is engaged in property and casualty insurance, reinsurance, real estate and information technology. My board experience included roles as Chair of Sustainability, and membership on the Compensation Committee.
