Wahoo Bay: A Living Laboratory for Marine Education and Conservation Wahoo Bay is a dynamic hub for marine education, research, and digital engagement. As a living laboratory, it merges hands-on learning, scientific inquiry, and innovative outreach to promote ocean conservation and STEM literacy. Located at Roy L. Rogers Family Park – Hillsboro Inlet, Wahoo Bay – A Marine Educational Park provides immersive, research-based experiences for students from pre-K through college. Through guided snorkeling excursions and educational activities, visitors explore marine ecosystems and gain awareness of ocean conservation. Students can deepen their experience at the Wahoo Bay Ocean Sciences & Conservation Lab, housed at Florida Atlantic University’s A.D. Henderson Campus. The lab involves students in studying marine pollutants, such as microplastics, and developing conservation strategies. Wahoo Bay’s Online Educational Portal extends its reach globally, offering live data from underwater sensors, real-time environmental monitoring, virtual curriculum tools, and livestream access to its 360-degree self-cleaning underwater camera. In partnership with Florida Atlantic University, Wahoo Bay creates a unique marine research environment. One highlight is the use of SEAHIVES—eco-friendly, hexagonal concrete structures that reduce shoreline erosion, enhance marine habitats, and provide educational snorkel trails for visitors and researchers. The park’s high-resolution underwater camera streams 24/7 video and audio, complemented by weather and water quality sensors. This real-time data supports research, education, and public engagement from anywhere in the world. Partnerships with organizations like the Ocean First Institute and the Stiles-Nicholson STEM Teacher Academy extend Wahoo Bay’s impact into classrooms. These collaborations empower educators with hands-on and virtual STEM learning, enabling inquiry-based teaching that inspires the next generation of scientists and e
