About Laurence Turka
I am a US trained physician and scientist who has worked in autoimmunity, immuno-oncology and translational immunology for over 30 years, both in academia and biotech. During my years in academia, my lab focused on basic and applied immunology, and I had a broad range of other roles including running a clinical division, patient care, and leadership and oversight for translational medicine in an NIH clinical trials network. For the past 7 years I have worked in biotech, first in company formation at Third Rock Ventures, and then in operating companies. At Rheos, I was responsible for building the platform and securing an industry partnership. At Rubius, I was responsible for research and translational medicine. I initiated 4 new pre-clinical programs, helped bring three new assets through successful IND submissions, and oversaw 5 phase I studies. I have extensive experience interacting with industry and investors.
