About Laurence C.

My story starts when I was 8 and my mom came home and said “no more birthday gifts, you’re making stock choices from now on”. As you can imagine that was heartbreaking to hear for an 8-year-old kid who just wanted some Power Ranger action figures. I decided to put my investment money into 1 share of Southwest Airlines, only because that was the plane we were about to fly to go to Florida on our way to Guyana, South America, where my dad is originally from. Next thing I knew I was in my room playing video games when my mom came in and showed me that my stock in Southwest Airlines went up, and explained that I just made money. I quickly saw the benefit in investing and it became a real interest of mine that later developed into a passion. I graduated from the best university to exist, University of Southern California, where I majored in business administration with a concentration in finance and minored in cinematic arts. Since my first investment I have built my own portfolio where I have bought and sold a multitude of companies like Nvidia(NVDA), Disney(DIS), Builder\'s Firstsource (BLDR), etc. Each stock had its benefits when I bought it and detriments when I sold it. Each has its own story to tell. Each has taught me something new about the industry and investing. I create a story for each investment choice I make and my goal is always to make as much money as I can. I am thrilled by researching firms, performing financial analysis, making strategic bets and seeing my bets pay off and teaching others about finance. I strive to make my 8-year-old self proud and become successful in the financial industry. I still hold that 1 share of Southwest Airlines as a reminder of where I started from and what drives me to learn more and stay competitive.
