NewView Oklahoma is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1949 with a mission to empower people who are blind and visually impaired to achieve their maximum level of independence through employment, rehabilitation, and community outreach. NewView Oklahoma is the leading employer of individuals who are blind or visually impaired in Oklahoma and offers the only comprehensive Low Vision Clinic in the state.As President/CEO, I am responsible for overall administration and management of the organization including financial management, program management, development/community relations and strategic planning. I work closely with the board of directors to develop policy and carry out the mission of our organization. During my time at NewView, I have been directly responsible for starting a comprehensive rehabilitation program for people who are blind and visually impaired that now serves over 2,800 people per year. I was also responsible for leading our organization through the rigorous process of changing our name from Oklahoma League for the Blind to NewView Oklahoma and successfully implementing and executing our brand roll out. Under my leadership, NewView was awarded the Oklahoma Non-Profit Excellence Award for Self-Sufficiency and the Oklahoma Excellence in Non-Profit Management Award along with both the Oklahoma and American Optometric Associations Apollo Awards, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Champions of Health Award and recognized by the Department of Human Services as their Program of the Year. The agency has also been recognized as a Defense Logistics Agency Gold Medal Supplier and received the DLA National JWOD Supplier of the Year Award.

I\'ve been with NewView Oklahoma, formerly the Oklahoma League for the Blind, for 17 years. I’m a native of Houston, Texas, and received my bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from Texas A&M University in 1986. I am also a certified public accountant.I’m currently the chairman of the Oklahoma Alliance for Public Transportation and serve as a member of the Regional Transit Dialog 2 steering committee. I am a member of the advisory board for the Walls Clinic at Northeastern State University and the board of the National Industries for the Blind where I chair their budget and finance committees. I am also a member of the OKC Downtown Rotary Club and participated in Leadership Oklahoma Class XXVII and Leadership Oklahoma City Class been previously recognized as one of the Journal Record’s Achievers Under 40, was named the Journal Record’s 50 Making a Difference in 2007 and 2010, and most recently have been named by the Journal Record as one of Oklahoma City’s Most Admired CEOs in 2014. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Doug, an attorney with Phillips Murrah. Together we have six children and two grandchildren.
