About Lauren Becker

sewer, thinker, maker, teacher, student.My career in the fashion industry has included stints in retail, merchandising, production, design, visual display, and marketing. My motto with regards to work: “Never say no to a new opportunity.” I have always had a passion for knowledge and a desire to understand every aspect of the tasks I take on. The only way to achieve success is to master the skill and adopt the techniques in my field. Knowing the history behind the process is important to me. I want to understand the story and meaning behind made objects, not just make it.I love discussing the reasons behind cultural shifts and tend to explore these ideas in my creative work. I have been toiling with the idea of American nostalgia for the past few years, trying to visually express the idea of an object as a conduit to memory. Most of my production has been in one-of-a-kind accessory pieces using vintage materials and found objects presented in a clean and detail-oriented way.
