About Lauren Barnes
For more than 20 years as a private public interest litigator, I fought for a more affordable and responsible healthcare system, leading large, diverse teams in high-stakes complex litigation. I\'m passionate about public service, working for systemic change, and mentoring and coaching. My strengths lie in organizing and directing teams, strategizing on our common goals and how best to reach them, collaborating to get the best out of everyone, in the most effective and efficient ways possible, and facilitating team members\' growth, all in the service of the public good. I lead by listening to and lifting others and have strong organizational and executive functioning, with creative and thoughtful problem solving and strategic planning.Working to ensure a more just society is core to who I am. Beyond my years of litigation experience, I bring deep volunteer experience and involvement in nonprofit and advocacy organizations, including leadership positions in the American Association for Justice, Public Justice, and the National Plaintiffs Law Association, as a member of the Massachusetts IOLTA Committee, and recently concluded volunteer tenures with the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys, and On The Rise, a daytime shelter offering support and advocacy for those experiencing and transitioning through homelessness.
