About Lauren Yamada

I am a certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) with myriad experience in primary care, internal medicine, and PA education. I pride myself in balancing autonomy and collaboration, while also building strong relationships with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals. I am committed to delivering high-quality care that meets the unique needs of each patient by continuing to be a life-long learner and seeking ways to grow both personally and professionally. Experience: Previously, I worked as an autonomous family medicine PA at the Squirrel Hill Health Center (SHHC), a FQHC whose mission is to provide quality healthcare to all, regardless of ability to pay. This is a mission for which I continue to advocate. While at the SHHC, I particularly enjoyed pediatric, refugee, and MAT/addiction medicine and also developed the pediatric and precepting program, precepting two students every clerkship. Working with students and shaping the future of the PA profession is incredibly rewarding. I remain passionate about teaching as an adjunct professor for Chatham University\'s clinical skills course. Over the last two years, I have incorporated telemedicine into my practice and hope to continue this service far beyond the pandemic, easing access to medical care for all. I enjoy practicing primary care medicine, with a focus on behavioral health, at Circle Medical. Being at the forefront of telehealth invokes a fast-paced, future-oriented,\"roll up your sleeves\" mentality for which I am proud to be part of.I have also particularly enjoyed my time at Allegheny Health Network working in internal medicine. This has been a welcomed clinical challenge, treating complex medical conditions in an inpatient setting. Furthermore, I am always open to developing new programs and engaging in leadership roles. With my education and medical backgrounds, I have been fortunate to use both passions to help shape my career. Some past leadership roles have included: head of PA preceptor program, onboarding program development, and clinical coaching. I completed the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants’ leadership certificate program and am open to more leadership training, and mentoring opportunities.
