About Lauren Stripling
I am a creative and precise editor, writer, and curriculum designer who specializes in K-12 literacy materials. We learn best through stories, and I love breaking down complex concepts into narrative-driven instruction that is engaging, easy to follow, and pedagogically sound. At Edpuzzle, I am the Editor for our ELA Originals, overseeing a team of four Curriculum Designers throughout the scripting process from brainstorm to final draft. Increasingly, I am using AI to streamline our processes and increase quantity, while not sacrificing quality. Along with a keen eye for detail and exceptional interpersonal skills, I bring 20 years of nonprofit and classroom teaching experience to the role. As Curriculum Director for Story Pirates, I wrote lesson plan companions to the Webby-Award winning Story Pirates Podcast (1 million monthly downloads) and created and taught workshops to thousands of elementary students across NYC and LA. As an Instructional Designer for Canopy Education, I created streamlined multimedia ELA and SEL units that offer multiple ways for students to engage with content and demonstrate mastery. I was also a classroom teacher for many years, teaching 7th and 10th grade ELA and Global History in the Bronx. I have exceptional interpersonal, mentorship, presentation, writing, storytelling, and speaking skills, and no matter the challenge, I solve problems with a sense of humor informed by many years in the NYC comedy community. I excel at team management, project management and consulting; I enjoy building both internal and external relationships. I\'ve loved tackling teaching complex scientific concepts with the National Science Foundation, American Museum of Natural History, and The Geffen Theater. I also love media work and have appeared on national network television (Jeopardy, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, NBC Nightly News) as well as PBS stations in NYC and LA.
Experience
Editor, Ela Content
Mar 2022 — Present
I oversee script development for all Language Arts Edpuzzle Originals (short-form video lessons) as part of the Curriculum team. As Editor, I supervise script development from brainstorming to final draft, ensuring scripts have a consistent voice, clear ideas, engaging and error-free content, and rigorous scaffolded assessment components. I develop script templates and outlines to expedite the process and engage in content discovery with my team of Curriculum Designers. I also oversee development of new multi-content resources (Quizzes, Slides, and Documents), using AI to streamline and automate repeatable processes and templatize content. Our fully animated Language Arts content includes elementary grammar lessons, middle school literary device lessons, middle and high school reading comprehension lessons, word study, and high school literary analysis, including lots of Shakespeare. I ensure each lesson is the best it can be from developmental edits to polish pass.
