ABOUT LAUREN SATO

Hello, thank you for your interest in my LinkedIn page! Currently, I am a Transportation Analyst at the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) where I initially began as the Strategic Planning Intern. Our team oversees several of OCTA’s environmental programs, including the environmental mitigation and water quality programs that have been implemented to offset the environmental impacts of several freeway improvement projects. More recently, we have been working on advancing OCTA’s climate adaptation and sustainability initiatives. Additionally, in 2020 I completed the Masters Program for Social Entrepreneurship (MSSE) at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. The MSSE program allowed me to explore and learn about growing a new successful business to effect greater social/environmental change, and taught me the skills to integrate positive social/environmental impact into an existing organization. When I am not working, I enjoy empowering and motivating kids as a Triple Threat Mentoring volunteer and playing basketball. Prior to this, I graduated from Chapman University with a B.S. in Environmental Science & Policy minoring in Business Administration and Integrated Educational Studies. In addition to holding a few on-campus positions, I was a member of the Chapman Women\'s Basketball team. I also engaged in undergraduate research, in which I used GIS software to spatially visualize and present data on e-cigarette usage among Orange County youth, and on the social determinants of health in developed nations. As a student-athlete, I learned to manage my time to maintain both high academic standards and physical performance. When I am passionate about something, I dedicate my time and effort to ensure that I carry out my responsibilities fully and proficiently. I intend to use my leadership skills, teamwork experience, and desire to effect positive social change in a career in corporate environmental and social responsibility and/or environmental sustainability.
