ABOUT LAUREN MANDEL
Lauren is a licensed landscape architect who cultivates her passion for high-performance landscapes through master planning, site design, and innovation. During the past 20 years, she contributed to the design of more than $100M worth of landscapes, including more than 70 roof gardens, and founded three companies that connect people to nature. Lauren\'s work—which integrates fringe solutions into professional practice—has been recognized through 12 professional awards and shared through her 30+ publications. Her past clients include the University of Pennsylvania, Barnes Foundation, and Brooklyn Botanic Garden.In 2017 Lauren served as the principal researcher and author of the “Site Commissioning White Paper” (U.S. General Services Administration), a federal-policy tool aimed at elevating the value of landscapes by proving their social, environmental, and financial performance. She also authored “EAT UP: The Inside Scoop on Rooftop Agriculture” (New Society Publishers, 2013), the first full-length book about rooftop food production. Lauren is a contributing writer for Landscape Architecture Magazine.
