The Local NY, a 150-bed designer hostel, cafe and bar located in Long Island City Queens, launched in February 2014. The Local was founded on the principles of accessible affordability, a high standard of cleanliness and security, superb customer service and unique, contextual design. From site selection to managing operations, as a principal, I oversaw every aspect of the project. This includes fundraising; construction management; architectural and interior design; recruiting, training, and motivating a staff of 20; market and public relations; procurement; and all day-to-day hostel operations. The Local NY has been recognized as one of the Top 20 Best Large Hostels in the world by Hostelworld. The Local NY is currently NYC\'s best reviewed hostel across all booking sites.
