About Lauren Dodrill Benjamin
I am a lawyer turned fundraising professional. My prior experience as an attorney gives me a professional edge as a fundraiser. I am a cum laude graduate of Franklin & Marshall College (B.A. Government, 2005) where I was a member of the Women’s Basketball Team. I attended the University of Baltimore School of Law, graduating cum laude with a concentration in Litigation & Advocacy (J.D, 2008). After graduating from law school, I served as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Judith C. Ensor in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County (20••••09), and I have substantial civil litigation experience. In 2012, I was named to The Daily Record’s 20 in Their Twenties and one of Baltimore’s Finest under 35 by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. I have also been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine in the publication\'s annual list of top attorneys in Maryland for 20••••16. In 2017, I was named to the Franklin & Marshall Women\'s Basketball Court of Honor.
Experience
Director of Leadership and Planned Giving
Nov 2021 — Present · Baltimore, MD, US
I am a front-line fundraiser, leveraging skills from a seasoned career as an attorney to strategically secure planned gifts and leadership/major gifts for the school. In my current role, I am responsible for the active management, enhancement, and growth of the school\'s planned giving program and leadership/major gift program. As the Director of the Planned Giving Program, I have rebranded and further developed a comprehensive program for planned giving that includes collaboration with the Communications Office for website, print materials, testimonials, etc. to strategically incorporate consistent planned giving messaging into all appropriate RPCS communications. I have developed strategies for stewarding current Planned Giving donors, educating our community about various Planned Giving vehicles and the benefits of Planned Giving, built a portfolio of planned giving prospects and created cultivation and solicitation strategies to increase overall planned giving (dollars and number of gifts) at the school. I have revitalized the Red & White Legacy (Planned Giving) Society as part of a comprehensive stewardship program. I work to ensure that the Planned Giving program remains part of an integrated plan within the overall development efforts. As the Director of Leadership Giving, I conduct personal visits for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. I am responsible for reporting out to donors on the status of endowments, applying for and reporting on grants, planning and managing stewardship events to thank our donors, and front-line fundraising to secure leadership annual fund gifts and major gifts.
