As Assistant Director at PocketMFA, I help shape and support a 12-week virtual writing mentorship program designed for working writers who want the rigor and community of an MFA, without the traditional barriers of cost or time. I work closely with our mentors, students, and leadership team to ensure each cohort runs smoothly and delivers meaningful, high-impact literary education.Key Responsibilities:– Coordinate program logistics, calendars, and events, including residencies and alumni panels– Support mentor applications/interviews, onboarding, communications, and curriculum delivery– Act as a primary point of contact for students, offering guidance, troubleshooting, and community engagement– Assist in developing new initiatives such as the Novel Studio, Continued Mentorship, and Craft Electives– Help maintain backend systems (Airtable, Google Suite, Substack) and track cohort feedback and performance – Collaborate on marketing efforts, public events, and strategic planning to expand our reach and impact– Facilitate creative writing workshops on an as-needed basis for fiction and nonfiction cohorts specificallyPocketMFA prioritizes accessibility, excellence in mentorship, and a supportive, real-world approach to craft.
