ABOUT LAUREL RIGGS
Student at the University of Kentucky pursuing a BA in Political Science and Writing, Rhetoric, & Digital Studies. On campus, I am a member of the Lewis Honors College and the Lunsford Scholars Program, and I serve as the UKSGA Assistant Attorney General, the Coordinator of the College of Arts & Sciences Student Ambassador Program, & the Vice President of Membership Standards for UK Panhellenic. I am currently completing my Senior Honors Capstone on how linguistic certainty impacts potential jurors’ likelihood to be struck or seated on a jury panel in criminal murder trials in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Outside of the University of Kentucky, I serve as the Director of Programs for the Kentucky branch of the Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar, a global nonprofit organization working to instill leadership into the youth of the world. I additionally work as a Law Clerk for Hicks & Funfsinn, a personal injury firm in Lexington, Kentucky.
