AstraZeneca is a global, science-led biopharmaceutical business and its innovative medicines are used by millions of patients worldwide.Responsibilities include:EXPERT PATHOLOGY INPUT• Delivering scientific and technical expertise in anatomical and molecular pathology across multiple modalities (immunohistochemistry, multiplex immunofluorescence, spatial transcriptomics, mass spectrometry imaging) and preclinical drug development, from target validation to clinical biomarker development.• Building effective cross-functional networks and collaborating with discovery safety specialists, toxicologists, and disease area scientists, as well as working closely with our partners to ensure consistency in outsourced toxicology studies.DIVERSE PORTFOLIO SUPPORT• Effectively delivering data from experimental toxicology studies and GLP studies across diverse drug modalities, including small molecules, biologics, PROTACs, CAR T cells and nucleotides.• Driving the establishment of our antisense oligonucleotide platform, leading efforts in target validation, and the design of efficacy and safety studies, including defining histopathological and clinical pathology endpoints.AI-DRIVEN PATHOLOGY INNOVATION• Partnering with expert imaging and AI scientists to utilize image analysis and AI to drive quantitative pathology and unlock insights from tissues.• Co-lead on the development of our virtual histology platform, working closely with data scientists to enhance pathology workflows.INCLUSION & DIVERSITY ADVOCACY• Serving as the departmental I&D Champion, leading a global team of 4 site representatives.• Actively contributing to Employee Resource Groups focused on neurodiversity, gender equity and racial equity.• Participated in the Data & Analytics Inequity Working Group, who believes that the racial representation of those in Data, Digital and AI roles should reflect the US STEM working population.
