As a member of the Board of Trustees for Hourglass, I am honoured to contribute to the governance and strategic oversight of a leading charity dedicated to supporting older people who are experiencing or are at risk of abuse. In this role, I collaborate with fellow trustees to ensure the charity’s vision, mission, and long-term goals are effectively pursued.My responsibilities include providing strategic guidance, scrutinising operational decisions, and helping to shape policies that promote the protection and dignity of older people.Leveraging my background in strategic leadership and safeguarding, I bring a focus on improving awareness and support systems for vulnerable older adults, particularly in relation to preventing abuse and neglect. This role allows me to advocate for some of the most vulnerable in society, helping Hourglass make a tangible difference in the lives of those at risk.

ABOUT LAURA ROBINSON
As Safeguarding Specialist at Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, I lead on protecting people from harm, tackling abuse, exploitation, and neglect, and building safer, more inclusive communities. My role focuses on strengthening safeguarding culture and practice across diverse housing, community, and care settings, ensuring that every person we support can live safely and with dignity.Alongside my work at WCHG, I provide expert consultancy across the public, private, and non-profit sectors, specialising in research, policy development, and organisational transformation. I conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative research to inform policy decisions, deliver evidence-based insights, and translate complex data into clear, actionable strategies. Key focus areas include gender equity, domestic abuse, safeguarding, and workforce development.My consultancy portfolio includes leading a national research project ‘Invisible Battles’ for Aurora New Dawn, exploring how specialist Armed Forces Advocates support survivors of domestic abuse, stalking, and sexual violence, findings that continue to shape policy and practice across the VAWG sector.An accomplished senior leader with a strong track record in military policing, safeguarding, and policy, I thrive on collaboration and building strategic partnerships that drive meaningful change. Championing inclusivity and empowerment is central to my ethos. During my Royal Navy career, I led a major change programme to improve employment policy and create more equitable career pathways for servicewomen.I also serve as a Trustee for Hourglass, a national charity supporting older people at risk of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Across every role, I remain driven by a commitment to improving systems, amplifying survivor voice, and ensuring that safeguarding practice is not only effective but compassionate and just.
