About Laura Perkins
My practice focuses on representing clients in Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and white collar criminal investigations and related matters, including government enforcement actions and compliance counseling. I also advise clients on issues related to the FCPA, the federal securities laws, the False Claims Act, and other federal statutes.Prior to joining private practice, I spent nearly ten years at the Department of Justice, where I served as an Assistant Chief in the Department of Justice, Criminal Division, Fraud Section, FCPA unit; a Senior Counsel in the Criminal Division’s Office of the Assistant Attorney General; and a Senior Trial Attorney in the Fraud Section.During my time in the FCPA unit, I supervised, investigated, and prosecuted hundreds of FCPA cases against individuals and corporations. I represented the United States on the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Anti-bribery Working Group, worked closely with foreign law enforcement authorities on case related and policy matters, and supervised several compliance monitors. In addition, while at the Fraud Section, I successfully investigated and prosecuted complex securities fraud cases and healthcare fraud cases.I also have extensive experience as a trial lawyer – both at the DOJ and in private practice. At the DOJ alone, I handled nearly two dozen federal jury trials and bench trials. As Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General, I worked with and advised the Assistant Attorney General and other DOJ leaders on issues related to complex economic criminal prosecutions and assisted in developing policies for Criminal Division prosecutors with regard to economic criminal prosecution, and other areas relevant to the Criminal Division.
