About Laura Laura Thurbon is both a fine artist as well as a rounded and seasoned art educator. Her primary studies were in Lima, Peru graduating as an Art Teacher, and Professional Artist after 8 years of intense instruction at the National Fine Arts School of Lima. Laura has won many art awards, has participated in numerous Collective and Individual exhibitions, and her artwork is part of several collections around the world in: United States South America Europe Israel India Laura has taught Art for more than 9 years in Several Elementary, Middle & High Schools and Colleges in Peru and the U.S. 14 years as a small business owner: 16 years as an art middle school and college educator 21 years as a professional artist, event coordinator and public relations

   As a Studio Art Teacher in Great Hearts Ms.Thurbon teaches diverse media, styles, subjects and content with high quality expectations.Students work is informed and guided by observation, experimentation, discussion, critical analysis, Socratic Discussion, and reflection, thus relating individual practices to the arts. Students are asked to demonstrate conceptual and technical development and success. In Studio Art Scholars learn: Sketching, Drawing with and without value, Canons of Beauty, Still Life, Landscapes, Structures (perspective-Architectural), Observational drawing, Color theory, Utilizing different types of media, and techniques.
