ABOUT LAURA LOWTHER

Updated bio for 2025 on its way!) With 15 years in the North-East charity sector, I recently joined NCVO as Vision for Volunteering Lead from my role as Head of Volunteering at St Oswald’s Hospice in Newcastle. I have held trustee positions at VODA North Tyneside and Linskill Centre and am currently part of the Advisory Panel with TimbaDash Theatre. I have broad strategic development experience and an interest in values, culture and inclusion. I loved working with specialist Lymphoedema Service staff and volunteers during the pandemic; delivering a volunteering programme which meant shielding patients could still receive expert care at home, winning a Hospice UK Award for ‘Innovation in Care’. One of the best things I has ever done is volunteer for a year from my mobile phone for Newcastle West End Food Bank, helping mobilise Newcastle United fans to support their local community. My current roles as Vision for Volunteering Lead and Volunteering Lead (NCVO) allow me to transfer my North East experiences to the national volunteering ecosystem as well as learning and developing every day in project management, strategy and partnerships. Aside from my children, partner and dog, my great loves include bobbing about in the North Sea and listening to BBC Radio 6. I believe volunteering makes the world go round.
