About Laura I. Gómez
I wrote my first line of professional code at 17 as an intern at HP. I’ve spent my career operating at the intersection of power, technology, and real-world impact.I’ve led product and international growth at companies like YouTube and Twitter, built and scaled products used by hundreds of millions, and spent the last decade founding and leading venture-backed companies in high-stakes spaces where trust, equity, and execution actually matter. As a founder, I raised one of the largest seed rounds ever for a solo Latina founder in Silicon Valley and built companies centered on problems most of the industry ignored until it was convenient to care.Long before “responsible AI” became corporate branding, I was publicly challenging algorithmic bias, structural exclusion, and the human consequences of badly designed systems. My work has spanned AI, health, hiring, privacy, platform infrastructure, and civic accountability — all connected by the same question: who gets protected, who gets excluded, and who gets to decide?I’m especially drawn to spaces where the stakes are high and the answers aren’t simple: HealthTech, trust and safety, identity, AI, SaaS, consumer platforms, and regulated systems. I like hard problems, institutional complexity, and products that have to earn trust instead of manufacturing it.I’m not interested in hype cycles, performative leadership, or building things that sound impressive but leave people worse off. I care about durable value, sharp execution, and technology that is accountable to the people it touches.
