I am a senior healthcare quality executive with three decades of experience designing strategy, building improvement capability, aligning leaders, and translating ambitious goals into measurable change. My career has been grounded in quality improvement. Over time, that foundation has expanded to include broader executive responsibility for patient safety, accreditation, and regulatory readiness in complex academic health systems. One of my core strengths is bridging strategy and execution—defining direction, building the necessary structure, and ensuring the follow-through required to move complex work from concept to implementation.A defining achievement of my career was building the UNC Institute for Healthcare Quality Improvement. As the Institute’s first full-time operational leader, I helped create a model for engaging physicians, APPs, and clinical leaders in improvement work that was accessible, practical, and relevant to real problems in care and outcomes. Under my leadership, the Institute became an important institutional resource for developing clinical improvement capability across UNC Health. I currently serve as System Executive Director of Patient Safety and Accreditation at UNC Health. In this role, I provide system leadership for patient safety, accreditation readiness, regulatory compliance, and cross-entity learning. Earlier, in hospital quality leadership roles, I led major elements of Carolina Quality, UNC Hospitals’ framework for quality, safety, and high reliability, along with quality operations, health equity, Leader Rounds, and transition of Accreditation from Risk to Quality.
