ABOUT LAURA KING

Trained and worked as a registered nurse in Ontario, Canada, with a specialty in public health, and health promotion, and professional education. I have over 25+ years\' experience in public health in a variety of settings including, national not-for-profit organizations, state and local public health departments, provincial public health association, non-governmental organizations, and as a consultant. My work history includes building, leading and managing new initiatives from concept development, through to strategy/program design, and implementation including, lead complex new national, state and community-based health promotion strategies and initiatives focused on chronic disease prevention; public health professional development; and community capacity building. Including the hiring, building, training, and development of new teams to support the capacity building goals and requirements of funders build the capacity of coalition partners organizations to achieve the goal of passing public policy at state and community levels. I have built, trained and led multiple new teams to deliver high-quality training and technical assistance supports (consulting services) to become content issues areas experts (e.g, tobacco prevention, nutrition access, physical activity) and/or public policy campaign planning, community organizing, development, and engagement experts to work with public health stakeholders, state or community-based organizations who are seeking to make an impact and address health disparities, funder expectations and/or meet grant deliverables, on-time and under budget.
