About Laura Santamaria

I am an experienced developer advocate specializing in systems science, distributed systems, and organizational strategy in a DevOps culture. My primary programming language is Python, and my experience in ops ranges from deep learning in infrastructure as code and CI/CD tools to general server administration. In prior roles, I worked as a software developer in tech (tech included OpenShift, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Groovy, Ruby, Python, and NodeJS), briefly moonlighted as a startup CTO (React, GraphQL, Python, CherryPy, PostgreSQL), and was an information developer and technical editor in tech and academia. At Rackspace, I co-chaired the crew that runs global events, including the company-wide internal conference, for technical employees, managing a team of roughly 10 people. I also chaired the local 7-person crew that provides technical outreach to the community in Austin through meetups and that enriches local employees through professional development opportunities. In both roles, I managed budgets and people and acted as the liaison to upper management as well as the community.Previously, I facilitated the Python Beginner Coder series for the Austin Women Who Code chapter by helping women discover the language through discussions and hands-on activities. Finally, I have co-facilitated two workshops on career advice, one on resume writing and one on career discovery.Find links to where I work, my professional blog where I chat about DevRel, the YouTube channel I worked on (PulumiTV), my GitHub profile, and my speaking portfolio (and how to get in touch with me!) at https://linktr.ee/nimbinatusAll views and opinions are my own and do not reflect my employer.Strengths: Achiever, Strategic, Input, Learner, Intellection, Responsibility, Ideation, Relator, Positivity, BeliefSpecialties: Python, JavaScript, git, CI/CD automation, Docker, documentation toolchainsSpatial-Tangible Maestro INFPWhotype: Achiever
