ABOUT LAURA WELBORN-BAKER
I am a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute and currently working at Smeeden Foreman. I enjoy working in a profession that affects people, place and nature. Landscape has always been influential in my work, from studying landscape art to landscape architecture. I believe landscape architecture has an important part to play to ensure health, wellbeing, biodiversity and resilience especially in urban areas. From impact assessments to strategic development plans, masterplans, as well as infrastructure and public realm projects, planting, green roofs, green walls and creating ecological habitats, there is potential for landscape architecture to have a social impact and create better places for people at all scales. Working collaboratively with other disciplines through thoughtful and sustainable design highlights the opportunities for landscape architecture in planning and designing better cities and urban environments for people and communities.I enjoy travelling and experiencing different cultures, places and spaces especially the variety of landscapes, including the local flora, fauna, street furniture and paving details, of course!
