ABOUT LAURA VERHAEGHE
I lead multi-disciplinary project teams to support municipalities in their long-term planning of water, wastewater and stormwater assets. I see my core role as bringing together people with ideas and facilitating creative problem-solving. I build project teams to include diverse perspectives and experiences. This allows us to think outside the box and consider the widest range of solutions to meet project objectives. Through my duties as a professional engineer, I am committed to viewing all projects through a Climate-Change lens, and ensuring our approach to planning, design and management of assets considers both opportunities for climate adaptation and mitigation. Water and wastewater infrastructure is essential to our quality of life, and should be approached with consideration for environmental and social impacts and incorporate sustainable design practices. My background as a Process Engineer with over 15 years of detailed design and construction experience across Ontario focused on wastewater treatment, conveyance and biosolids management, supports my current work as a Senior Project Manager providing strategic infrastructure planning solutions to clients. My goal is to play my part in building stronger and more resilient communities in a way that both empowers people and finds the best technical solution.
