About Laura Staton

With more than 25 years of experience in marketing communication, sustainability strategy and CSR, my background in government, public affairs and strategic planning has helped me serve a variety of clients in the reputation management sphere. A native Wisconsinite, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with degrees in communication arts and political science. After beginning my career managing statewide political campaigns and then working in the private sector in a business-to-business capacity, I landed on the agency side where I worked for over 18 years. During that time I worked with clients in the agri-food space develop marketing communications strategies to help build their reputations and advance their businesses. This includes: Helping several ingredient and food companies develop sustainability platforms, developing a rural STEM education program for a major global pharmaceutical company and working with several major non-profit organizations to foster a global agriculture industry collaboration to innovate products and tools that will help eradicate malaria from sub-Saharan Africa. In addition to work and family, I always found time to volunteer for several nonprofit organizations in the metro-Milwaukee area. And now I am joyfully working as an independent contractor with SHARP Literacy to help plan and manage several upcoming events to celebrate the organization\'s remarkable 25th Anniversary. Specialties: Communications strategy and planning in the areas of reputation management, corporate communications, issues management, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability, development of non-profit/NGO initiatives, partnership building, community outreach and event management.
