ABOUT LAURA SHEERMAN

An innovative, committed, and passionate educator and Ph.D. student. Since 2012 I have delivered qualifications in health and social care from entry-level to degree level programs of study, in a diverse range of settings e.g. FE. HE, community, apprenticeship training. In April 2022 I took a leap and am now a full-time Ph.D. student at UWE, with a keen interest in mixed method methodology (MMR), critical realism, and XR technologies in healthcare education. I am ambitious to innovate education using a grassroots approach, positioning the researcher as a facilitator of knowledge creation. Enabling participants to contribute their voices within a dialogical framework, pragmatic, co-produced innovation in teaching practice. My Ph.D. work seeks to evaluate innovative teaching and learning in real-world teaching contexts, contributing to innovative teaching practice that prepares young people for their chosen career. I have led multidisciplinary projects, co-designing innovation for healthcare curricula in HE and FE contexts. I am currently working on a smaller project to utilise technology for young neurodivergent individuals, allowing them to thrive in education settings. In parallel to my education career, I have enjoyed an18 year career in the health and social care sector working in diverse settings, and workforce positions. From 20••••21 I implemented innovation and led change management projects within predominantly older adult care provision. Drawing on my expertise I wrote and designed multiple health, social care, young people, and children\'s workforce training modules for a national e-learning provider for a wide range of audiences.
