As the Director of the Academic Success Center, I have been able to assist Northwestern Connecticut Community College students and Connecticut Community College students in their goal of coming to college, graduating from college, earning industry recognized credentials, and transferring on to their bachelor\'s degree. Through a developmental education redesign, students are the most likely to complete their gateway math and English courses in one year. The Academic Success Center at facilitates collaboration between tutoring, testing, a student success program, pre-developmental programs, and non-credit programs. We by working together we have found creative ways to further the college mission. We brought on more industry recognized credentials which help students to get jobs, and allows the college to grow its non-credit offerings. My scholarly interest in underprepared college students comes from working closely with these students during developmental redesign. There is no greater joy that helping someone to see that they are capable of being a college graduate.
