About Laura Markey
Laura is an Arizona Native, born in Tucson at Davis Monthan Air Force Base. Her father\'s travels within the USAF landed her back in Arizona at Luke Air Force Base in the mid 1970\'s. Her interest in Physical Therapy sparked during high school as an athlete in the sports of gymnastics, diving, track/field and cheer leading. She attended Arizona State University from 1982-86 with focus on pre-med/pre-physical therapy coursework. She was accepted into Daemen College in Amherst, New York and graduated in 1989 with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy. Her drive and motivation for quality services culminated by opening a private orthopedic practice in 1991. Laura\'s dedication towards patient care and personal growth led her on an educational journey in Physical Therapy, Leadership and Management. She has achieved the highest certification and credentials in the field of orthopedic manual therapy through Fellowship Training and Board Certification in Orthopedics. She also earned two doctoral degrees, both in Orthopedics and Manual Therapy through the Ola Grimsby Institute. She has been active in the American Physical Therapy Association, as well as, a shareholder and board member of PTPN Arizona. With clinical experience came the desire to share her knowledge with other physical therapists. She has been an instructor for the Ola Grimsby Institute teaching certification and residency programs for them since 1995. In November 2014, she was invited to teach an international spine course in Italy. Mentorship of her current clinical staff keeps Laura challenged and passionate in the field of orthopedic manual therapy. She enjoys watching others grow and attain their personal career goals. She has two wonderful children, Alyson and Alexander, with whom Laura looks forward to spending her time with and watching them grow.
