ABOUT LAURA HUEY

Professional experience: I am Professor at the University of Western Ontario and the Editor in Chief of two international journals: Police, Practice & Research and Evidence Base.I\'m an alumnus of the College of New Scholars, Artists and Academics of the Royal Society of Canada, and sat on the RSC Covid Taskforce as the Chair of its working group on mental health and policing. I also founded the Canadian Society of Evidence Based Policing, which I ran for 5 years. I was a member of the Board of SERENE-RISC (a NCE-funded cybercrime research consortium), a Senior Research Fellow at the US National Police Foundation, and a Senior Researcher and University Representative for the Canadian Network for Research on Terrorism, Security and Society. I have also been a member of the Canadian Council of Academies\' Expert Panels on the Future of Canadian Policing and Cybercrime, respectively. I have also sat on numerous boards and working groups related to community safety. I am the author of 12+ books and about 70+ articles in the fields of policing, victimization, terrorism and cyber-security. My research has appeared in the British Journal of Sociology, the British Journal of Criminology, Sociological Review, Society & Mental Health, Theoretical Criminology, Criminology and Criminal Justice, the Journal of Interpersonal Violence and various other international journals. I am also an International Advisory Editor for Theoretical Criminology and on the editorial advisory boards of the Cambridge Journal of Evidence Based Policing and the Canadian Journal of Criminology.My current research focuses on public order policing, critical incident response, police downloading, policing and mental health and missing persons.
