Laura has been combining her passion for science, innovation, and investment on an international scale for over 14 years. She has been on many sides of the table, from starting her career as an entrepreneur in tourism, financial services, and education (the first two in Latin America, the latter in Silicon Valley), to pioneer in Latin America’s Venture Capital industry, and growth strategist for Emerging Market funds and entrepreneurs looking to expand beyond their borders. Laura has been an avid champion of building Latin America’s VC industry. She joined SV LatAm Capital as Partner where she focused on pre-seed - series A investments in food systems, healthcare, and financial services going to/from the region. Prior to that, Laura joined Aurus Venture’s Technology Fund to invest in early stage technologies scaling throughout Latin America, while also informing policy and building bridges to capital in the region. Her expertise spanned seed and series A investments made across consumer internet & mobile, financial services, and education.Laura has also advised equity/ debt funds across US & Emerging Markets to include Greenhouse Capital USA (Consumer, IoT, Sustainability Tech), Acumen Fund India (Healthcare), Grassroots Business Fund (Agriculture), Sitawi Brazil (Impact), and Banorte Group Mexico (Financial Services, Sustainability). In every investment opportunity and career move, she looks to transform societies, environment, and health on a global scale.Additionally, she has been a judge to several international innovation programs to include: Startup Chile, Parallel18 & Pre18, Wayra, Founders Institute, Google for Entrepreneurs, WeMENA, and Morgan Stanley’s International Impact Investment Challenge. Laura has earned a BA, cum laude, in Physics & Spanish from Lake Forest College, and an MBA/MS from the University of Michigan in sustainability and finance.
