ABOUT LAURA DAY

Building safety and compliance professional with over 29 years’ experience in the construction industry, including the past 5 years specialising in housing and residential compliance.I currently lead on fire safety across a portfolio of over 450 residential blocks within a property housing association, while also supporting the wider oversight of the “big six” compliance areas: fire, gas, electrical, water hygiene, asbestos and lifts. My role combines operational delivery with strategic input, ensuring compliance risks are effectively managed while aligning with organisational priorities.I act as the Accountable Person for a high-rise residential building, managing building information and supporting the development of safety case requirements. I work closely with regulators, emergency services and internal stakeholders, providing clear guidance on compliance obligations and risk-based decision making.My responsibilities include ownership of fire safety budgets, oversight of fire risk assessment programmes, and driving continuous improvement in compliance performance. I have successfully reduced outstanding FRA actions to sustainable levels, strengthened internal processes, and supported the delivery of remediation and cladding-related works.I take a pragmatic and proactive approach to compliance—challenging existing processes, identifying efficiencies, and helping to embed a strong safety culture across the organisation.
