SKILLS
ABOUT TOYA PRINCESS JACKSON
I am a musicologist, cultural historian, and global pop artist whose work explores and redefines how we engage with Black performance across music, movement, and media. I specialize in documenting, teaching, and reimagining Black artistic excellence—bridging scholarship, creative practice, and emerging technology. My graduate thesis, Black Swans Shattering the Glass Ceiling, traces the evolution of Historically Black Ballet Companies from Katherine Dunham to Arthur Mitchell and has been cited in scholarly and international publications. This research now serves as the foundation for the courses I teach as a Professor of Music and Humanities at Morris Brown College, where I bring the archive into the classroom—centering Black performance history as both legacy and living practice.Beyond academia, I extend this work onto the stage through my artist persona ElectrKPrincess, where I write and perform music that carries these histories forward into contemporary pop, dance, and visual storytelling. My creative work functions as a living archive—honoring tradition while pushing toward new futures.I am the founder of LaPrincess Entertainment Group (L.E.G.), an evolving AI Entertainment Studio focused on music creation, storytelling, and creative innovation. Through the launch of the LaPrincess AI Music Lab, I explore ethical human–AI collaboration in songwriting, visual media, and digital storytelling—positioning my company at the intersection of Music, AI, and Technology.Alongside this, I am developing the Black Swans Archive, a digital research and creative platform preserving and expanding narratives of Black excellence across ballet, music, and performance culture. Together, these initiatives position LaPrincess Entertainment Group as more than a startup—it is a production company, research hub, and creative lab dedicated to shaping culture forward through innovation, imagination, and intentional use of emerging technologies.
