ABOUT LATHA SIVAPRASAD

Latha Sivaprasad is a physician executive with over 20 years of experience as Chief Medical Officer, Chief Patient Experience Officer, and Chief Quality Officer in multiple, large healthcare settings with expertise in safety, quality, and streamlining healthcare delivery to achieve cost containment, evidence-based care, and a culture of well-being and focus.She is a member of AOA and was on the AAMC Steering Committee for CMOs from 20••••20 and is an activemember of Mensa. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and was recognized as one of the Top 180Chief Medical Officers to Know by Becker’s Hospital Review in 2024 and 2025. She was also identified as one of 25 Healthcare Leaders Under 40 by Becker’s Hospital Review and was among leaders 40 under 40 by the Providence Business News in 2014 and awarded the 2015 Leadership Excellence Award from the National Diversity Council. She is currently the Regional Chief Medical Officer for the VA New England Health Care System and was appointed in 2021 by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. She oversees the clinical delivery of health care to approximately Veterans. The VA New England Healthcare System (VISN 1) includes eight medical centers, located in the six New England states of VT, NH, Maine, CT, RI and MA. VISN 1 provides health care services for Veterans and offers extensive education programs for doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals and is a leader in research to improve the health of our nation’s Veterans. Prior to her role in VA, she was appointed to RhodeIsland Hospital (RIH) as the SVP/Chief Medical Officer for 7 years from 20••••20. RIH is the principal teachinghospital for Brown Medical School and the flagship hospital of Brown University Health with 719 licensed discharges, ED visits, and inpatient surgeries annually. RIH is the largest hospital inRhode Island and the state’s only Level I trauma center receiving over $60 million in external research fundingannually. Her scope included oversight of medical staff and credentialing for over 1800 physicians, the RIHambulatory clinics with over outpatient visits annually, GME which included over 70 programs and 550fellows and residents, the Comprehensive Spine Center, Pharmacy for the system, and quality/safety. She wasthe first female SVP/CMO ever to be hired at Rhode Island Hospital in its 157-year history. Dr. Sivaprasad has managed thousands of hospitalized patients and continues to clinically practice and teach.
