ABOUT LASYA VELISELA
I am a driven and people-focused Business School student at the University of Southampton, with a strong record of senior leadership, student representation, and professional experience, developed alongside maintaining high academic standards.I currently serve as President of Women in Business, the University’s largest business society with 450+ members, where I lead strategic planning, external partnerships, large-scale events, and committee management. This role has required strong leadership, decision-making, stakeholder engagement, and execution, while balancing diverse priorities and delivering impact at scale. Alongside this, I have served as Vice President of Operations for Enactus Southampton and Vice President of the Entrepreneurs’ Society (Fish on Toast), working across operations, project delivery, and cross-functional collaboration.In parallel with my leadership commitments, I freelance as a Personal Bookkeeper, applying financial discipline, accuracy, and client trust in a professional setting. This experience has strengthened my attention to detail, accountability, and client communication, while giving me direct exposure to real-world business responsibility.Alongside society leadership, I have consistently taken on roles focused on peer support and representation. As a Peer Leader at Southampton Business School and Course Representative, I planned and facilitated academic support sessions, advised junior students, and acted as a trusted point of contact for academic and wellbeing queries. These roles strengthened my ability to teach complex concepts clearly, communicate with empathy, and support others confidently.In my university journey, I\'m representing the institution as a Lead Ambassador, Faculty Ambassador, Student Ambassador, and Uni Buddy Student Ambassador, supporting open days, outreach activities, and one-to-one peer guidance. These roles developed strong public speaking, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.Beyond leadership and representation, I have represented the University in competitive and innovation-driven environments, including becoming a semi-finalist in the University Business Challenge and contributing to Student and Easter innovation projects, strengthening my problem-solving, teamwork, and adaptability.Alongside my academic commitments, I have maintained part-time professional experience in customer service at Hollywood Bowl, grounding my leadership in real-world teamwork, resilience, and service delivery.
