Lasha R. Boyden is the Acting U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of California. She was designated by U.S. Attorney General William P. Barr on February 3, 2020 and re-designated by U.S. Attorney General Merrick B. Garland on March 3, 2022 and July 25, 2024. U.S. Marshal Boyden is responsible for overseeing and directing operations throughout the Eastern District of California, which includes 34 of the 58 counties in the state of California. She supports the mission of the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) by ensuring the protection of the federal judiciary, fugitive apprehension, coordination of prisoner operations/transportation, execution of court orders, managing seized assets, recovering mission children, supporting the federal witness protection program, and engaging with the community.As Marshal Boyden moved up in her career and while in the prime of her professional and personal life, she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. Although she went through some of the most challenging treatments, she overcame and survived the disease.Marshal Boyden\'s story is an inspiration to many. She is sought out by community leaders, educators, non-profits, and celebrities to share her story of resilience, hope, and leadership.Marshal Boyden earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Alabama State University in 2003. She earned her Executive MBA, from the University of New Mexico in 2015.
