ABOUT LARYS FROGIER

Post-graduated in modern and contemporary art history from the High School for Social Studies (EHESS) in Paris and the University of Rennes, I\'m developping on-going researches on the history of 20th-21st centuries exhibitions, American contemporary art theories and cultural activism, as well as specializing onto emerging artistic and curatorial practices in different regions of Asia. Since 2024, I\'m the Head of International Development for Tang Contemporary Art with the missions of identifying and reaching out to emerging and established international artists, building close relationships with influential international collectors, establishing partnerships with European and American art institutions (museums, foundations.), and curating international art exhibitions. From 2012 to 2023, I have been the Director of the Rockbund Art Museum Shanghai, a private non-profit organization. During these amazing years living and working in China, I have fulfilled missions of conceiving a sustainable development of the Museum, implemented professional long term research and curatorial platforms, programed/(co)curated high-end exhibitions, developed free and collective learning. From 2013 to 2019, I chaired the HUGO BOSS ASIA ART dedicated to rewarding emerging artists in Asia. I conceived and developped this project as an evolving platform where Asia unfolds as plural localities (maritime, archipelagic, continental), nurturing rich histories of migration, representing itself with critical engagement and cultural diversities rather than as a monolithic continental bloc of fixed national identities. In 20••••24, with the Relais Culture Europe in Paris, I have co-conceived an ambitious project titled \"BECOMINGWORLDS\" dedicated to in-depth researches about the current situations/contexts/states of the arts in different regions of the world, with the aims of challenging decisive cultural, democratic, environmental, technological mutations that are shaking our worlds today. Since 2024, I\'m an associate member of the research Center for the study of contemporary arts (CEAC Centre d\'Étude des Arts Contemporains) at the University of Lille where I\'m also teaching modern and contemporary art theories. Driven by a passion for sound and words, I have co-founded with Alfie Chua the duo artist studio OCEAN & WAVZ - OW dedicated to electronic music composition and acts of writing (poems, aphorisms, essays.).
