I have over 20 years experience working with complex, interrelated tax issues of closely held businesses and their owners. I work closely with business owners to minimize taxes on the business and family. Based on the owner\'s goals, I eventually help guide them through the process of the sale of their business or gift to family members. All business succession plans are different as all family dynamics are different. Blended families, children involved or not involved in the business, spouse\'s feelings about money and fairness, etc, are all non tax issues that are the most important when it comes to business succession planning. However, these issues are not often addressed properly which can lead to unintended results that put a strain on the family. I am Chairman of the Firm\'s Personal Wealth Planning Group and have been designated by the firm as an Estate, Gift, and Trust tax specialist. I frequently provide resources to attorneys regarding Estate and Gift Tax matters and publicly speak on these topics. Clark Schaefer Hackett is much more than a typical accounting firm.
