Larry Dominguez is a seasoned ecologist and dynamic team leader with over 33 years of multidisciplinary experience spanning fish and watershed ecology, shoreline and flood risk management, river science, regulatory permitting and compliance, and natural resource policy development. Renowned for his ability to bridge the gap between ecological science and sustainable development, Larry collaborates closely with designers and engineers to integrate natural systems processes into innovative, resilient project solutions.Larry’s expertise is grounded in a deep understanding of fish passage, floodplain and nearshore ecology, river and wetland management, land use–aquatic interactions, salmonid life history diversity, fluvial geomorphology, riparian-aquatic dynamics, limiting factors analysis, and the conservation of threatened and endangered species. He is recognized for his skill in restoring ecological balance within altered systems, leveraging advanced restoration techniques and a holistic systems perspective.A returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Liberia, 1987–1990), Larry’s global perspective and commitment to service inspired him to establish the framework for Ecologists Without Borders™ (EcoWB) in 2005–2009. Building on insights from fieldwork in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and West Africa, he envisioned and developed an organizational model that mobilizes technical experts in ecological restoration to address critical environmental challenges in developing nations. In 2011, alongside co-founders Eric Knudsen and Cleve Steward, Larry formalized EcoWB as a pioneering international NGO dedicated to advancing science-based conservation and capacity building worldwide.Larry is passionate about empowering others to maximize their impact, fostering collaboration, and advancing human and environmental well-being.
