ABOUT LARRY YEN

I am a lawyer with Boughton Law Corporation. My practice focuses on corporate finance & securities and advising venture capital start-ups. I help early stage start-up companies to large publicly listed corporations strategize, coordinate and plan corporate transactions, which include private securities offerings, initial public offerings, regulatory requirements under Canada and US federal securities statutes. I also advise on acquisitions, mergers, and reverse takeovers, and assist clients from the United States, Europe and Asia in establishing new businesses in Canada in areas such as information technology, research and development, mining and consumer products. My goal is to promote BC and Canada as a big player in the international market and help international companies establish and conduct business here. I frequently travel around the world to make such business happen. In fact, I regularly conduct seminars in China’s BC trade offices, and I work closely with the BC Minister of International Trade. Having grown up in Asia, I understand the cultural background, and it is easy for me to relate to and communicate with Asian companies wanting to expand into Canada and North America. I explain the process and requirements in Mandarin, so my clients understand first-hand not just the hard and strict rules but also the cultural differences in a business context. For a lot of companies coming into Canada or North America, it is a brand new environment—I am a trusted advisor who understands their needs and concerns and helps them navigate the landscape to achieve their business goals from a new perspective in a new culture.I have lived an international life, which augments my capabilities as a cross-border business facilitator.
