About Larry Gates
35 + years firm operational/management experience in public accounting. This includes local/mid size (which I most enjoy) and large, regional, and national firms. Also, for several years I managed my own consulting practice working with primarily small-mid size CPA Firms on a variety of projects. When not involved in public accounting I spent several years each in computer operations, investment advisory, and the.com world. So in summary, I have a rather diverse and extensive operational background across several disciplines.

I have just made an exciting move and have joined ABIP CPAs & Advisors here in Houston assuming a newly created position of Chief Administrative Officer. With over 35 years of public accounting and industry experience I will take my prior experiences guiding other CPA firms and embrace this new and challenging opportunity. At ABIP I will direct the firm\'s operations in both our Houston and San Antonio offices focusing on enhancing the infrastructure to support the Firm’s strategic growth goals. This includes recruiting the best talent we can to remain Client Focused and Relationship Driven. The way trusted CPA\'s and Advisor\'s should be known for. My diverse background including technology, human resources, recruiting, benefit and compensation systems, facilities management, and financial /operational reporting systems, plus many others which will be utilized as we build a dramatically different type of Firm. Key to my decision was the ability to make a difference as a critical member of their management team as a strategic resource to insure the firm remains one of the top firms to work for in current and future markets. The Firm currently has almost 95 employees between the 2 offices and is rapidly growing both organically and through properly vetted practice acquisitions.
