About Lara Dominguez

I am an ecologist interested in coevolution and the conservation of interspecies interactions in an urbanized world. As the child of teachers and a life-long educator, I consider outreach and science communication an integral part of the scientific process. I seek to incorporate outreach and educating in all of my future career opportunities. In my undergraduate career, I studied restoration ecology in the prairies of the great plains, focusing on the coevolutionary history and conservation futures of a threatened ecosystem. I also had opportunities to hone my skills as a science educator through volunteer work, designing and teaching summer ecology classes, and engaging students in public health outreach as a Gender and Sexuality Center associate. I graduated Cum Laude from Carleton College with a Bachelor\'s of Arts in Biology. I\'m currently based at Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute studying termite ecology as a RaMP-UP fellow.

   Recipient of a year-long fellowship supported by Global Sustainability Scholars and Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute and funded by the National Science Foundation. Living in and working in Panama and designing and executing a research projects on neotropical termite ecology.
