Commissioner Vilma D. Leake\'s Small Business Consortium is a bi-monthly meeting in support of entrepreneurs, small business owners, and aspiring business owners. The consortium supports the growth of small businesses in Mecklenburg County by equipping, educating and empowering small business owners to learn the process of getting certified to do business with the government, quasi-government, and major corporations. It also provides business and leadership development opportunities. As Moderator my role is to:Plan, preside over and conduct bi-monthly lunch and learn business meetingsResearch, identify and solicit meeting keynote speakers to increase awareness about government and corporate contractual opportunities and to build small business capacityIdentify and secure lunch and newsletter sponsors for each business meetingCoordinate planning meetings and execute strategy sessions with the Small Business Consortium Planning Team and VolunteersKey Achievements:Increased the Small Business Consortium attendees list serve by 40%(87•••02 members) Planned and Executed the first Holiday Social and Business Networking EventSuccessfully increased meeting attendance by 87% from an average of 80 attendees to sold out business meetings of 150+ attendees.
