I am responsible for providing strategic direction and overseeing implementation of SPP\'s transmission planning, resource adequacy, real-time operations and IT functions. I provide an executive interface to FERC, state regulatory commissions, and SPP stakeholders on behalf of SPP\'s business functions. I am expected to be a company spokesman for SPP on key strategic, policy and technical matters. SPP is a nonprofit organization that helps manage the bulk electric system for the South Central region of the United States, covering all of Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma, and parts of Arkansas, Iowa, Louisianna, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming. SPP is mandated by the federal government to act as an “air traffic controller” of the transmission grid to ensure reliable and safe delivery of electric power within its region.
