About Lanie Francis
I am board certified in hematology and medical oncology and practice at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, the flagship of UPMC\'s cancer network in Pittsburgh, PA. I see patients with solid tumors, largely breast cancer and with blood disease. I have an interest in treating the entire patient- body, mind and spirit. I am committed to authentic patient centered care and shared decision making. I am the Co-Lead of the Survivorship Program at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. This re-envisioned program combines research and clinical care through 4 pillars that are non-negotiable offerings for every cancer survivor; exercise oncology, lifestyle nutrition, management of symptoms with holistic approaches other than medicines, and attentive oncology care for surveillance of cancer recurrence or detection of secondary malignancies.I am the founder and director of the Wellness Integrative Program Oncology at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, now under the umbrella of Survivorship. I am the Associate Medical Director, Medical Oncology, UPMC International. I serve in a clinical advisory and consultative role focused on cancer specific training and education in Italy, Ireland and have traveled widely to Latin America, Kazakstan, and Russia in over the last decade.I am an assistant clinical professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. I teach residents and fellows and mentor physician\'s assistants and nurses. I lecture widely on a variety of cancer related subjects largely focused on holistic care and lifestyle.
