Professor Hong is an AI pioneer with over 30 years spanning foundational research, academic leadership, and the development of production-grade AI systems. After a 30-year career as a Professor of Electrical Engineering - where he also served as the Dean and Executive Director of the Engineering School, he co-founded Oculii, where he led as the President & CTO. Oculii was a leading pioneer in AI-based sensor fusion and perception software for autonomous systems and was acquired by Ambarella (Nasdaq: AMBA). Following the acquisition, he served as a Fellow at Ambarella, focusing on advancing efficient, deployable AI for real-world systems. He has published over 500 refereed papers in the leading AI journals/conferences, and has been granted more than 100 patents over the course of his 30+ year career.
