About Lane Jemison
I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Auburn University with a minor in Naval Sciences and a strong foundation in hands-on, operational, and team-driven environments. My background spans customer-facing roles in food, retail and transportation, where I developed core strengths in communication, teamwork, and service, as well as technical internships across multiple industries in materials testing, federal watershed programs, and quality-focused field operations. I, recently, accepted a position by Norfolk Southern Corporation as a Field Engineering Management Trainee of the Maintenance of Way & Structure (MWS) team within the Engineering Department. This leadership development role within the railroad engineering department oversees maintenance and inspection of bridges and structural rail infrastructure. Additionally, I am learning to manage field crews, coordinate live-track work windows, conduct structural inspections, and execute repair and capital improvement projects while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance in a 24/7 operating environment. This particularly motivates me because of the front-line leadership, infrastructure reliability, and operational excellence in large-scale transportation system.
