General day to day team management in the blood transfusion laboratory and my main focus is high quality training. Senior duties involve all aspects of quality management, referral reporting, team management, dealing with queries from laboratory and clinical staff, blood stocks management and supporting other sites in the BCPS pathology network. As a training officer I’m responsible for staff training and competency, registration and specialist portfolio marking, preparing staff for out of hours working and BMS empowerment.

Currently practicing as a senior biomedical Scientist and Training Officer in Blood Transfusion. I’m passionate about my profession, safe transfusion practice and high-quality training. I hold an MSc in Haematology, BBTS Specialist Certificate and the IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma in Transfusion Science. I’m an active IBMS verifier and examiner and a member on the UKNEQAS BTLP Steering Committee. I have experience in providing training and education to all grades of staff and students on a variety of haematology/transfusion or Biomedical science related topics.
