As a leader in the infrastructure and cloud services organization, I lead an engineering organization of 90 engineers responsible for Northwestern Mutual’s resiliency program and infrastructure and manage a $12m budget. • Improved availability of critical app platforms from 95.8% to 99.8% by establishing resiliency strategy and roadmap for critical business processes, application platforms, and technology services • Resolved 11 critical resiliency gaps that simplified app deployment architecture of cloud platform by championing resiliency testing • Shifted focus from once-in-a-lifetime disaster scenario planning to operational resiliency • Closed decades-old high severity audit issues with board-level visibility and reporting by building robust management action plans • Introduced chaos-testing capability to improve resiliency of business applications • Oversee -$5M in operating budget and $7M in project budget Key Achievements • Established a reliability framework to increase the availability and resiliency of application platforms • Gained $1.2m in efficiency by moving work closer to the engineering teams • Drove migration of a 40-year scheduling tool (CA7) to a modern scheduler (CNTL-M) resulting in cost savings of $2M • Built and managed diverse, inclusive, and outstanding engineering teams through effective hiring practices, and career development • Mentor leaders in the company (2 of my 5 mentees were promoted in the last 12 months)
